पद (मीरा) Pad (Devotional Verses of Mira)

मीरा भगवान श्रीकृष्ण से प्रार्थना करती हैं कि हे प्रभु, जैसे आपने अपने भक्तों का दुख दूर किया था, वैसे ही मेरा दुख भी दूर कर दीजिए। वे प्रभु की कृपा के उदाहरण देती हैं: प्रभु ने भरी सभा में साड़ी बढ़ाकर द्रौपदी की इज़्जत बचाई; भक्त प्रह्लाद के लिए नरसिंह (आधा नर आधा शेर) का रूप लिया; और डूबते हाथी (गजराज) को बचाकर उसका दुख दूर किया। अंत में वे कहती हैं कि गिरधर की दासी मीरा का दुख भी प्रभु दूर कर दें।

Mira prays to Shri Krishna: O Hari, just as You removed the suffering of Your devotees, please remove my suffering too. She recalls examples of the Lord's grace: in the full assembly He saved Draupadi's honour by lengthening her cloth without end; for His devotee Prahlad He took the Narasimha (man-lion) form; and He rescued the drowning elephant king (Gajraj), cutting away its pain. At the end she says: may the Lord remove the suffering of Mira too, who is the servant of Giridhar.

मीरा भगवान श्रीकृष्ण (स्याम, गिरधारी लाल) से कहती हैं कि मुझे अपना नौकर (चाकर) बना लीजिए। नौकर बनकर वे बाग लगाएंगी और रोज़ सुबह उठकर प्रभु के दर्शन करेंगी; वृन्दावन की गलियों में गोविंद के गुण गाएंगी। इस सेवा से उन्हें तीन चीज़ें मिलेंगी: दर्शन, प्रभु का स्मरण (याद) जो उनका खर्च होगा, और भाव-भक्ति जो उनकी जागीर (संपत्ति) होगी। वे प्रभु की सुंदरता का वर्णन करती हैं: सिर पर मोर के पंख का मुकुट, शरीर पर पीला वस्त्र (पीताम्बर), गले में वैजयन्ती माला, जो वृन्दावन में बाँसुरी बजाते हुए गाय चराते हैं। वे ऊँचे महल बनाकर उनमें खिड़कियाँ रखना चाहती हैं और लाल साड़ी पहनकर साँवरे (कृष्ण) के दर्शन करना चाहती हैं। वे यमुना के किनारे आधी रात प्रभु के दर्शन माँगती हैं। मीरा कहती हैं कि उनका मन गिरधर नागर को पाने के लिए बहुत बेचैन है।

Mira prays to Shri Krishna (Syam, Giridhari Lal): keep me as Your servant (chakar). As Your servant she will plant gardens and rise daily to behold You; in the bowers and lanes of Vrindavan she will sing of Govind's pastimes. Through this service she will gain three things together: Your darshan, the remembrance (sumiran) of You as her spending, and loving devotion as her estate (jagir). She describes the Lord's beauty: the peacock-feather crown on His head, the yellow garment (pitambar), the Vaijayanti garland at His throat, as He plays the flute and grazes the cows in Vrindavan. She wishes to build high palaces with windows in them, and wearing a crimson (red) sari to behold her dark Lord. At midnight, on the bank of the Yamuna, she begs for His darshan. Mira says her heart is deeply restless for Giridhar Nagar.
