उत्साह; अट नहीं रही है Utsah; At Nahin Rahi Hai (Two poems)

कवि बादल से कहते हैं, हे बादल, गरजो! आसमान को घेरकर, उसे गहरा और काला बनाकर, पानी से भरे बादल, गरजो। तुम सुंदर, काले और घुँघराले हो, जैसे किसी बच्चे की कल्पना से बने हो। तुम्हारे दिल में बिजली चमक रही है, हे बादल, तुम नई ज़िंदगी देने वाले हो।

Addressing the cloud, the poet says: O cloud, thunder! O water-bearing cloud, gathering over the sky, making it dense and dark, thunder. You are lovely, black and curly, as if reared by a child's imagination. Lightning glows in your heart; O cloud (like a poet), you are the giver of new life.

कवि कहते हैं कि बादल, तुम्हारे अंदर वज्र (कठोरता) छिपा है, फिर भी तुम नई कविता से दुनिया को भर दो। बादल का गरजना मानो एक नई रचना और नई जागृति की आवाज़ है। इसलिए कवि बार-बार कहते हैं, बादल, गरजो।

The poet says: O cloud, a thunderbolt (vajra, hardness/revolution) is hidden within you, yet fill the world afresh with new poetry. The cloud's roar is, as it were, the voice of new creation and new awakening. So the poet repeats again and again: O cloud, thunder.

कवि कहते हैं कि दुनिया के सब लोग गर्मी से बेहाल और उदास थे। तभी किसी अनजानी दिशा से ढेर सारे बादल आ गए। हे बादल, इस तपती हुई धरती को अपने पानी से फिर से ठंडा कर दो, बादल, गरजो। इस तरह बादल राहत और नई ज़िंदगी का प्रतीक बनकर आता है।

The poet says all the people of the world were restless and dejected (unman) from the summer heat (nidagh). Just then, from some unknown direction, endless clouds arrived. O cloud, cool this scorched earth once more with your water, O cloud, thunder. Thus the cloud arrives as a symbol of relief and new life.

दूसरी कविता में कवि कहते हैं कि फागुन की सुंदरता कहीं समा नहीं रही, वह तन पर भी ठहर नहीं रही। यह सुंदरता इतनी ज़्यादा है कि कहीं भी समेटी नहीं जा सकती, हर तरफ़ फैल रही है।

In the second poem the poet says the radiance (aabha) of Phagun cannot be contained (at) anywhere, it will not even settle (sat) upon the body. This splendour is so abundant that it cannot be gathered up anywhere; it is spilling out all around.

कवि फागुन की महकती हवा से कहते हैं कि तुम कहीं साँस लेते हो तो हर घर को महक से भर देते हो; आसमान में उड़ने के लिए तुम पंख लगा देते हो। यह सुंदरता ऐसी है कि कवि नज़र हटाना चाहें तो भी नज़र नहीं हट रही।

Addressing the fragrant breeze of Phagun, the poet says: where you breathe, you fill house after house (with fragrance); to fly in the sky you give everything wings. This beauty is such that even when the poet tries to look away, his gaze will not turn away.

कवि कहते हैं कि पत्तों से भरी डालियाँ कहीं हरी हैं तो कहीं लाल। कहीं हल्की महक वाली फूलों की माला पड़ी है। हर ओर इतनी सुंदरता है कि वह कहीं समा नहीं रही। पूरी प्रकृति फागुन के रंग और महक से भरी हुई है।

The poet says: boughs laden with leaves are green in places and red in others. Somewhere a softly fragrant garland of flowers lies. On every side (paat-paat) there is so much splendour that it cannot be held in. All of nature is brimming with the colour and fragrance of Phagun.
