Two Indian languages and English is the rule for most CBSE students. Those papers feed your final result; gaps in any one show up in the aggregate. ICSE language papers count the same way.

At CBSE schools in Saudi or the UAE, host-country Arabic (MoE textbook — not NCERT) counts toward your total from Grade 9. That lives under CBSE on Lipi, separate from Hindi and English.
