Summary
A polynomial of degree 1 is linear, degree 2 is quadratic, and degree 3 is cubic. In Class 10, quadratic polynomials get the main attention.
The value p(k) means the result after putting x = k. If p(k) = 0, then k is a zero of the polynomial.
On the graph y = p(x), the zeroes are exactly the x-coordinates where the graph touches or crosses the x-axis.
For ax^2 + bx + c, if the zeroes are alpha and beta, then alpha + beta = -b/a and alpha beta = c/a.
If the sum and product of two zeroes are known, a quadratic polynomial can be written as x^2 - (sum)x + product. Any non-zero multiple also has the same zeroes.
