Central idea
A sleeping dog looks like it's doing nothing at all, yet its body is running four maintenance jobs nonstop: pulling in fuel, converting that fuel to usable energy, moving supplies to every cell, and hauling waste back out. None of these jobs ever clock out, not during sleep, not during stillness, not for one second you're alive. This chapter is the maintenance manual.
