আজ ধানের ক্ষেতে

ধানখেতে রোদ-ছায়ার লুকোচুরি। আকাশে সাদা মেঘ ভাসে। ভ্রমর আলোয় মেতে ওড়ে, নদীর চরে পাখির মেলা।

kabitaya bala hayaeche, aja dhanera khete roda ara chaya mile yen lukochuri khelache. nila akashe ke yen sada meghera bhela bhasiye diyaeche. bhramara aja madhu khete bhule giye aloya mete ude bedaya, ara nadira chare chakha- chakhira mela baseche.

The poem says that today sun and shadow seem to play hide-and-seek in the paddy field. Someone has set white cloud-rafts afloat in the blue sky. Today the bee forgets to gather honey and roams about drunk on the light, and on the river sandbar the ruddy-shelducks gather in a fair.

কবি আজ ঘরে থাকবেন না, বাইরে যাবেন। বাতাসে হাসি ছোটে। কাজ না করে সারাদিন বাঁশি বাজাতে চান।

kabi balachen, aja tini ghare thakaben na; bairera khola akashatake yen lute neben. joyarera jale phenara rashira mato batase aja hasi chutache. kono kaja na kare, shudhu banshi bajiye sarata dina katiye dite ichche karache tanra.

The poet says he will not stay at home today; he will take in the whole open sky. Laughter runs on the wind like foam on the tide. He longs to do no work at all and pass the whole day just playing the flute.
